- Registration stays with the vehicle in SA, and the buyer has 14 days to transfer it into their name and pay stamp duty and the transfer fee (a late-transfer fee applies after that).
- To hand over the car, complete and sign the transfer section on the back of the vehicle's registration details certificate and give it to the buyer.
- A Notice of Disposal doesn't transfer the rego by itself, but it protects you from fines, tolls and expiation notices the new owner racks up after the sale.
- South Australia charges stamp duty on the market value of the car, not the sale price, so an unusually low private sale price does not reduce what the buyer pays.
