Privacy Policy

Instant Cash Cars ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this website, ask to be matched with buyers, list a car, or contact a seller, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

When you ask to be matched with buyers, we may collect:

• Vehicle details you provide: registration, state, kilometres, and what the car is;
• Contact details: your mobile number and, if you provide them, your name and email;
• Technical information: your IP address, an approximate location derived from it, and standard web-server logs.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Contact you about selling your car and help you list it;
• Match your car with buyers, and run the listings, messages, and alerts described below;
• Stop spam, scams, and misuse;
• Meet our legal obligations.

We are a matchmaking service, not a dealer, so we never collect your bank details for a sale. We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as this policy describes: a buyer's message and email go to the seller, and a seller's phone number goes to a buyer who proves their email. Our website and email run on Cloudflare, which processes this information for us. We also share information where the law requires it.

Cars for sale between buyers and sellers

This site also lists cars for sale by their owners. That part of the site collects a little more, and this is what happens with it:

• Seller accounts. To list a car we collect your email, your name, your state, and, if you give it, your mobile number. Photos you upload are stripped of hidden data, including any location your phone stored in them, before they are kept.
• Messages to sellers. When you message a seller we collect your name, your email, and, if you give them, your phone number and postcode. We keep the message and email it to the seller with your email as the reply address. The seller's own email is never shown to you, and yours is shown only to that seller. A message with a link in it is read by our staff before it reaches the seller.
• Seeing a seller's phone number. We collect your email only to send you a one-time code, and a seller's number is shown only after you type it. We keep a record of which numbers you were shown, to stop misuse, and one email address is shown a limited number of sellers' numbers a day. A confirmed email is remembered in your browser for 30 days. A seller's mobile is never shown any other way.
• Saved cars and searches. If you save a car or a search with email alerts, we keep your email to send them. Every alert carries a stop link that works in one click, with no sign-in.
• AI assistants. You can browse, message a seller, or list a car through an AI assistant. We collect the same information, use it the same way, and apply the same limits. What you share with your assistant is between you and it.

How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as long as the law requires.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses only essential cookies needed for the site to function. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and, where required, seek your consent.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it was last revised.
